Summery: An easy dive site in the bay of Giardini-Naxos for PADI Open Water Diver Courses and our favourite for night dives as this spot turns into another world during sun set.
Description: The dive site is located in the bay of Giardini-Naxos, close to the Sunshine Cave. In the bay of Villagonia, it is an easy dive for all levels yet very exciting for the more experienced due to its close location to the Sunshine cave which was used by the Germans as a warehouse for weapons during the 2nd World War. We start under the boat swimming eastwards and see several big boulders and rocks. In front of the Sunshine Cave, at about 10 meters, we find a big swim through where we can find scorpion fish. This dive site turns into a magical landscape during sunset and is therefore our favourite dive site for night diving. The maximum depth is 16 meters. During a night dive, we can encounter octopus, the flying gurnard and several hermit crabs exploring the sea bed.
