Giardini Naxos

Giardini Naxos, Messina

The city was named “Giardini Naxos” in 1978, when the historic title of “Giardini” was added that of “Naxos” in memory of the first Greek colony of Sicily. The town is located at sea level in a beautiful bay between Capo Taormina and Capo Schisò. The historic volcanic peninsula of Naxos is now one of the main Italian tourist hot-spots thanks to its splendid geographical location. The area is immersed in nature, as it is just a short distance from the Alcantara River nature reserve and boasts a majestic view of Mt Etna. The city can be reached in less than an hour from the international airport of Fontanarossa (Catania).
