Giardini naxos

Giardini Naxos, Messina

The city was called “Giardini Naxos” from 1978, when the historic name of “Giardini” was added that of “Naxos” in memory of the first Greek colony in Sicily. Located at sea level in a suggestive bay that from Capo Taormina, culminates in Capo Schisò, the historic peninsula of volcanic origin of Naxos, the city is today one of the main Italian tourist resorts thanks to its splendid geographical location. Immersed in nature just a short distance from the Alcantara river nature reserve and, dominated by the majestic Etna volcano, the city can be reached in less than an hour from the international airport of Fontanarossa (Catania).
